A really wonderful friend sent me a WMV file yesterday that made me smile. No, it made me laugh!

This file is an answering machine message from a school in Australia. You see this school is being sued by parents because they refuse to give their child a passing grade when they do not deserve it.

What ever happened to responsibility. What ever happened to parenting?

If your child is cutting classes and not handing in homework then why do you think your child deserves to pass anything in school?

Isn’t that YOUR responsibility as their mother or father?

Oh, that’s right we have the new attitude of it’s not my child’s fault and they should pass because…..excuse 1, excuse 2, excuse 3.

Well it seems the Education system also says we should have a “No Child Left Behind Policy” too.

How about lazy kids who watch too much television, play video games for hours on end, hand in chicken scratch work at school and expect that to pass them, don’t play sports because it requires discipline and effort and eat all day long because they don’t give a hoot anyway. How about that?

Or how about parents who are always too tired, too fed up, don’t want to speak with their child because of another attitude they might get off their kids.

What about that?  Take some responsibility people!

It’s not the Teachers job to raise and discipline your own children.

You need to listen to this. I Applaud the Australian School who had the courage and say something about the way parents are raising their kids and that these teachers are NOT responsible for lazy students.

Rhode Island threatened to Fire 74 teachers because they refused to adapt to longer school days and tutoring to help the struggling students. Why is it the teachers responsibility again? The Teachers don’t have lives too? Teachers don’t have children of their own to educate at home?

Why can’t the parents step up to the plate and help their children after school?

Hey, I am all for teachers teaching but YOU as a parent have to accept responsibility too. I have 2 sons 11 and 12 and if they do not get their homework done and read everyday then they get extra chores, banned off Video Games and they get to go to bed early. Works for us….discipline, look it up in the dictionary sometime.

I have a good friend who is a teacher. From what I understand  from my personal conversations with her, teacher’s hands are tied as to what they can now teach too. The Government controls more and more of what they deem education to our students. Sounds more like Propaganda to me.

I know my friend is VERY frustrated with Bureaucratic B.S as she calls it. I also know what I have heard, out of my own son’s mouth a few times as well.

He has come home from school upset because he dared to speak out about something, we as his parents have taught him was HIS decision to believe. He has also been physically bullied at school because he didn’t agree with what his school was teaching at the time about President Obama. Because my son had a different opinion a kid in his class beat him up and called him names. Nice….

That’s what the Education system is teaching American Kids? Hate, propaganda, conflict? What ever happened to reading, writing, reading, mathematics, history, and good common sense? Too complicated to teach now? The government requires all these assessments, teachers meetings, paperwork, long boring explanations about your child and blah, blah, blah. Is that really about Education or the school ratings system for Government Grants?

Last time I checked, America was ranking about 18 out of 36 industrialized nations for Education. When it came to Math Alone American Kids Ranked 19th out of 21 industrialized nations. This was ranked on the 12th grade education level too.

So how are all those surveys and Government Systems working, for our American Schools and our Children?

They are NOT. Education Reform? No child left behind? Dumbing down our kids? You Decide… 

Something else to read…

Time to step up to plate people and make your child responsible for their own passing grades in school. Take away the television, games and start educating them properly. After all, if we wait for the Government to tell us their policies are working, we will be seeing more and more uneducated children in the United States. Sadly it would seem, that is a fact…..
